Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder named her for the town she grew up in. His father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California when she was seven. They lived in a place without electric power. Ryder was a voracious reading book because there was no TV. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. In 1986 she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder experienced bullying at her high school. Her hope was that the acting profession would change the way she dealt with bullying. However, it didn't take place. She continued to pursue her goals. Her breakthrough came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in various films. In 1993, Ryder was in the running twice for Academy Awards.
